Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) have arrested two suspected Rohingya kidnappers from a refugee camp in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. They are Nurul Islam (22) from Block H of the Nayapara Registered Refugee Camp in Teknaf and Mohammad Jobayer (25) from the same camp. They were detained at noon on Monday (March 6) in the Hnila Nayapara registered refugee camp in Teknaf.
APBN claims that the two kidnappers are active members of the Rohingya bandit group Putia.
Confirming the matter, the Police Superintendent (SP) of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Cox’s Bazar, 17th Battalion (APBN), Mohammad Tariqul Islam, said that a group of local Bangladeshi citizens abducted Saiful from the front from Block H of the Nayapara Registered Refugee Camp in Teknaf. February 23 at noon. Upon receiving the news, APBN members immediately launched a rescue operation. At that time, the criminals left Saiful in the mountainous area adjacent to the registered Nayapara camp and fled. He was later rescued and handed over to his family the same day.
He added that an APBN team raided the registered Nayapara refugee camp in Teknaf along with the rescued man on Monday afternoon. According to the rescuer, the two kidnappers were arrested at their homes.
There are several cases against him at the Teknaf Police Station on various charges, including kidnapping. A case has been brought against them under the relevant law and they have been handed over to the Teknaf police station, an APBN official said.
