After the arrest of the two, the city police commissioner, Abu Kalam Siddique, held a press conference in his office at the Shah Makhdum police station at around 12:30 pm. There, he said, the two arrested were working to strengthen the organization under the leadership of Huji-B leader Atiqullah, alias Zulfiqar, who is housed in Gazipur’s Kashimpur prison. Atiqullah is one of the associates of Huji’s leader, Mufti Hannan. A large number of jihadist books were found in the possession of Ibrahim Khalil and Noman. Presumably, they were working to strengthen the organization. They were arrested while riding in an autorickshaw. There were four more with them. They ran away. Attempts are also being made to stop them.
The police commissioner further said that HuJI members were attempting to rescue the jailed members of the organization with money from Dubai. They are under police surveillance. A special team of the city police, with the help of the police headquarters and the Special Police Section (SB), set up checkpoints in the Kharkhari area and arrested Ibrahim Khalil and Noman. Legal action has been taken against them.
