On Wednesday, the president appointed the two judges, who have served as Superior Court Division judges, as Appellate Division judges.

The Chief Justice, Syed Mahmud Hossain, was sworn in in the Supreme Court Judges Chamber at 4.30pm on Thursday.

Supreme Court Spokesman and Special Officer of the High Court Division, Mohammad Saifur Rahman, told reporters that judges from both Supreme Court divisions attended the swearing-in ceremony by video conference. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Secretary General of the Supreme Court. Ali Akbar.

With two new judges, the number of judges on the Bangladesh Supreme Court is now eight.

Judge Tariq ul Hakim was appointed temporary judge of the High Court on July 29, 2002 and became incumbent two years later.

His father, Judge Maksum ul Hakim, was also a High Court judge at one point and later served as an ambassador.

And the various Tariq-ul-Hakim justices, Amin Ahmed, was the then Chief Justice of the East Pakistan Supreme Court in the 1950s.

Tariq ul Hakim was born on September 20, 1953 and has a law degree from the University of London. After returning to the country, he entered the District Bar Association as a lawyer in 1986 and the Supreme Court two years later.

According to Article 96 (1) of the Constitution, a Supreme Court judge has the opportunity to stay up to 7 years. As such, Judge Tariq ul Hakim will turn 7 on September 19. September 16 will be your last business day as there is a weekly holiday on that day.

Judge Obaidul Hasan, who has been sworn in as a judge in the Appeals Division, has previously served at the International Criminal Court.

Born on November 1, 1959, Obaidul Hasan graduated from Dhaka University with a BA and MA in economics and a BA in law from the department of law.

He joined the Superior Court two years later and in 2005 as a lawyer in the Appeals Chamber.

After being appointed as an additional judge of the Superior Court Division on June 30, 2009, Judge Obaidul Hasan became permanent there on June 8, 2011.

The following year he was appointed judge of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. He was also president of the second court for some time.

When court 2 proceedings were stopped in September 2015, Judge Obaidul Hasan returned to the Superior Court Division. He was also a member of the search committee created by the president in 2016 to restructure the Electoral Commission.
