State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the two attackers of Ghoraghat Upazila (UN) Executive Officer Wahida Khanam in Dinajpur were minors. The state minister said the presence of the two was seen on CCTV footage of the residence, but their appearance was blurred. Their names have been confirmed and efforts are underway to arrest them.
The minister of state visited UNO Wahida, who is in treatment at the Hospital of the National Institute of Neurosciences in the capital, on Thursday (September 3) evening. He said: ‘CCTV footage in front of the house showed two young men of slight stature entering. However, its appearance is vague, unrecognizable. It looks like they hit UNO with a hammer. ‘ Stating that every effort is being made to arrest those involved, the state minister said: “The local super police have assured us. Hopefully, it will soon be possible to arrest the attackers. They are working to get clues.
He said: ‘Wahida Khanum, who is in treatment, makes sense and can speak clearly. He said he did not know any of the attackers. According to his comment, there was no enmity with anyone. So far, the motive for the attack is unclear. An investigation is underway and efforts are being made to remove the attackers.
Referring to UNO’s physical condition, Farhad Hossain said: “Despite improving many health parameters, UNO Waheeda Khanam cannot be called out of danger. Because not everything can be said in the case of a neuropathic patient. There are no plans to take it abroad for now. But we will do whatever it takes. However, the treatment at the Hospital of the National Institute of Neurosciences in our capital is world class. There is also a blood system. If necessary, the cooperation of senior neuro-physicians will be taken.

Earlier on Wednesday (September 2), around 2.30 pm, criminals entered a residential government building and began beating UNO Wahida Khanam with sharp weapons. When the father who was with her ran away and tried to save the girl, the criminals also attacked and injured her. Subsequently, residents from other neighborhoods learned of the incident and reported it to the police.
They were rescued and taken to the Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex. There he was sent to Rangpur with first aid. ONE Wahida Khanam was admitted to the Rangpur Medical Clinic in ICU and her father to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Later, Waheeda Khanam was sent to Dhaka by air ambulance for better treatment.
