The decision was made at a union meeting Sunday afternoon, said ASM Maksud Kamal, rector (education) of the university.
“They have been asked to pay the college fees within two months,” he told bdnews24.com.
On the other hand, the union has allowed teacher Anup Kumar Saha from the same department to be reinstated.
In early 2016, Anup Kumar was promoted from assistant professor to associate professor at Jagannath University. On October 7 of that year, he was appointed assistant professor at the University of Dhaka.
However, he was unable to get into the job as he was accused of posing as a ‘doctor’ without completing his PhD. On December 31, the Dhaka University union fired him.
Anup Kumar subsequently sought refuge in court and was reinstated on November 25, 2019.
Based on the court’s verdict, a five-member inquiry committee headed by the vice chancellor (education) was formed to investigate the reasons behind Anup Kumar’s reinstatement and dismissal at a union meeting on Sunday.
