Four people were killed in a three-way collision between two passenger buses and a minibus in Magura Sadar upazila. Another 20 people were injured at the time.
Magura Sadar, Police Officer in Charge (OC), said. Joynal Abedin said: “The accident took place in the Maghirdhal area of the Magura-Jessore road in upazila around 1:15 pm on Friday.”
Two of the dead have been identified. They are Amin Mia, 40, a resident of the village of Rupdia in Jessore and supervisor of Chakladar Paribahan, and Fakrul Islam, 38, of Dattapara in Narsingdi. The injured have been admitted to the 250-bed Magura hospital.
OC Joynal Abedin added that a Chakladar Paribahan bus and a minibus were heading towards Magura from Jessore. And a passenger bus from Sohag Paribahan was coming in the opposite direction. When the three vehicles collided in the Maghirdhal area, the Chakladar bus rolled over to the side of the road and fell into the water.
Four people were killed on the spot. Upon receiving the news, members of the police, firefighters and civil defense went and recovered four bodies from the Chakladar Paribahan bus, the OC said.
