In the Pabna-4 constituency by-election, two candidates have collected nomination papers. They are the convener of the Pabna district and member of the advisory council of the party chairman, Habibur Rahman Habib, and the leader of the Pabna workers’ party. Ahsan Habib.
Forms for the Pabna-4 constituency began to be sold at the party’s headquarters in Naya Paltan on Sunday morning.
The price of the nomination form is 10 lakhs.
Candidates will need to submit the completed form along with a deposit of 25,000 to the main office before 2pm on Monday.
In the afternoon, Habibur Rahman collected forms from Habib’s deputy general secretary, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Rizvi said the candidates for the Pabna-4 constituency would be interviewed at the president’s office in Gulshan at 5 pm on Sunday.
Speaking to journalists, Rizvi said: “You know, we are in the streets in a fight to regain democracy. We know the consequences of this election, but I participated in the election to spread democracy.
“We know that the government has broken the system of elections, electoral commissions and voting. We are participating in these by-elections so that they can be recovered, so that fair elections can be held and fair votes can take place in the country.
Habibur Rahman Habib expressed hope that if the Pabna-4 by-elections are fair, the paddy field symbol will win by a large margin. The by-election for the Pabna-4 constituency will be held on September 28.
This seat was vacated after the death of Deputy Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu on April 2.
