Two auditors arrested with bribery money

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested two officials from the Audit Department in Hatena along with a bribe of 4.16 lakh Tk. They were arrested on the third floor of the LGED building in Pirojpur on Monday afternoon.

Those arrested are- SAS Superintendent of the Department of Audit of Education, Culture and Religious Affairs. Zaheer Raihan and Audit and Accounts Officer. Shamim Hossain.

A six-member team led by Debabrata Mandal, deputy director of the ACC’s Barisal Integrated District Office, detained them. Subsequently, a case was brought against them under the relevant section of the Anti-Corruption Law and they were handed over to the Pirojpur Sadar Police Station at night.

Debabrata Mandal said that based on secret information, the ACC raided the third floor of the LGED building and arrested the two officials along with Tk 417,000. They were staying in the building to audit the district and upazila education offices in Pirojpur.

District Elementary Education Officer. Jesser Ali said that they had received a letter from the audit department a few days ago to audit the primary education offices in Pirojpur. In view of this, the two officers came to audit the primary education offices in Pirojpur. They have already completed the audit work on three of the seven upazilas.
