The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested two auditors who came to Pirojpur to audit various offices and institutions of the primary education department with Tk 4 lakh 17 thousand in cash. A six-member team led by Debabrata Mandal, Deputy Director of the Barisal Integrated District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), arrested them on Monday (December 21) afternoon from the Pirojpur LGED guesthouse in Hatena.
At that time, 4 lakh 18 lakhs was recovered in some 1,500 rupee packages hidden in different places, including under the travel bag and the bed mattress in the guest house room.
ACC Deputy Director Debabrata Mandal said the money was recovered from LGED’s guesthouse around 4 p.m. Monday based on secret information. At that time two auditors were arrested. They have accepted bribes from various primary education offices in Pirojpur. A case has been brought against those arrested under the Anti-Corruption Law and they have been handed over to the Pirojpur Sadar Police Station at night.
It was learned that the two auditors came to Pirojpur last Sunday to audit the spending of the last financial year of the district primary education office, 6 district upazila primary education offices, PTI and other department departments. They stayed at the LGED guest house. Audit activities began in three district upazila primary education offices, including the Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Primary Education Office, on Monday.
