Patharghata (Barguna): Hilsa, who weighs 2.5 kg, has been caught in a net at Patharghata in Barguna. The fish has been sold at a price of 1 lakh 20 lakhs.
On Friday (September 11) morning, a warehouseman named Yusuf Mia bought the fish from the Khwaja Fish warehouse in Patharghata Ghat, the country’s largest fish landing center (BFDC).
Yusuf Mia told banglanews that he bought a 2.5 kg yarn for one of his close relatives for Tk 6,500 for Tk 120,000.
Local fish trader SM Sohag told banglanews that the 2.5kg hilsa is not commonly seen. So the price of this shaped yarn is a bit higher. Previously, hilsa in this form was sold for Rs 1.5 lakh. However, at present this fish has been sold at a slightly lower price as there is a lot of hilsa in the sea.
You can see the Patharghata fish landing center, the grade size hilsa sells for 36 to 37 lakhs, 32 to 33 lakhs LC and the small size hilsa for 14 to 15 lakhs. In addition, two kg of hilsa have been sold for 1 lakh to 1 lakh 20 thousand manas.
Mohammad Ahmad Ullah, marketing director of the Patharghata fish landing center, told banglanews that about 200 metric tons of hilsa were sold at the fish landing center in the last seven days. Government revenue has been collected around 12 lakh.
