Turkey is shaken by a strong earthquake. The magnitude of the earthquake was 8 on the Richter scale. However, the Turkish daily Sabah reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.8. Additionally, reports of large-scale damage have started pouring in from various other locations. The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km and the source was 33.5 km off the coast of Turkey.
The earthquake affected Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, Libya, the United Kingdom, and northern Macedonia. Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said six houses collapsed in the Beyarakli and Bornova districts of Izmir. The adjacent provinces such as Usak, Denizli, Manisa, Aden, Mughals reported minor damage. Photos and videos that appeared on local social media showed people trying to remove the rubble and remove the detainees.
