The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2021.
He was nominated a few weeks after a peace agreement was reached between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
The Daily Mail and Fox News reported on Wednesday (September 9).
He was nominated by Christian Tybring-Zedde, Member of the Norwegian Parliament. He praised Trump’s efforts to resolve conflicts around the world.
Christian said: “Speaking of your qualifications, I think that the effort you have put into establishing peace in the country is greater than that of most of the people nominated for the Peace Prize. ‘
He said that the Trump administration has played a key role in establishing relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Trump has even significantly reduced the number of US military personnel deployed to the Middle East.
“Hopefully, other countries in the Middle East will follow in the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates, and this agreement could become a ‘game changer’, transforming the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity,” Christian wrote in the letter from nomination.
