The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has officially announced the name of Amy Connie Barrett for the position of Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. As a result, Barrett will replace Ruth Beder Ginsberg, one of the country’s deceased judges and one of the pioneers of the women’s rights movement.

At a ceremony in the White House Road Garden on Saturday, Donald Trump said: “Today, I am very honored to have nominated one of the most brilliant and talented jurists in the country to the Supreme Court.” She is a woman of unparalleled achievement, great intelligence, sheer credibility, and a neutral adherence to the (United States) Constitution – Judge Amy Connie Barrett.

The 48-year-old judge was present at the ceremony along with her husband and seven children. Previously, in 2016, Donald Trump appointed him to the Federal Court of Appeals.

The president of the United States thanked Republican senators for announcing Barrett’s name on Saturday, as well as for standing firm at the Senate hearing on his appointment to the Supreme Court.

The Republican leadership in the Senate has announced that it will confirm the appointment of a judge to the Supreme Court before the presidential election on November 3. Democrats, however, say the winners should be named after the election.

Republicans currently hold a 53-46 majority in the United States Senate. Of these, only two Republican senators voted against the appointment of judges before the elections. As a result, the appointment of Amy Connie Barrett should not be a major hurdle for those in power. Upon her appointment, the conservative majority among the nine Supreme Court justices will reach 6-3.

The Associated Press reports that a hearing on Barrett’s appointment to the Senate Judiciary Committee could begin on October 12.
