A truck driver named Mojibur Rahman (50) was allegedly killed by robbers in Mirzapur, Tangail. Police recovered his body in the Postkamuri area of Mirzapur on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Boliapur Kunda from Savar upazila in Dhaka.
Police arrested Hasan, 20, the son of Saki Miah from Badhrukkalai village in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur for questioning.
Hasan told the police that he has been living in Boliarpur de Savar since childhood.
They left the Madhyapara area of Dinajpur in a truck loaded with stones towards Barbaira on the Dhaka-Aricha highway around 3pm on Tuesday. The truck arrived in the Postkamuri Charpara area of Mirzapur around 3pm. His truck was supposed to go from Charpara to Barbaira on the Mirzapur-Warshi-Balia highway via the old Mirzapur highway.
But they accidentally entered the Mirzapur bypass. They planned to take the Mirzapur-Warshi-Balia highway through the Mirzapur underpass due to the highway divider. His truck was moving very slowly because there were vehicles in front.
