The All India Motor Transport Congress called on Wednesday a strike in support of the farmers’ movement. This organization represents about one million truck workers. They will observe the strike from December 6.
Kultaran Singh Atwal, president of the organization, said: “Starting on December 6, we will stop all activities in North India.” Truck traffic will be suspended in North India and Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
“We have decided that if the government still does not meet the demands of farmers, we will implement a wheel stop program across India,” he said.
