Malik Sramik Oikya Parishad has called an indefinite transport strike on all routes in the Pabna district starting at 6am on Thursday, demanding six points. The strike was postponed until Monday evening (January 4) following guarantees from the Pabna district administration and the Shahjadpur upazila administration.
Habibur freedom fighter Rahman Habib, convenor of the Pabna District Motor Owner Workers Unit Council, confirmed the information at 6:30 pm on Thursday (December 31). The meeting was held in the presence of the UN from Shahjadpur in Sirajganj and union leaders from Shahjadpur. But since the owners of Shahjadpur did not attend the meeting, at the request of the deputy commissioner, they postponed the indefinite transport strike until next Monday.
The chairman of the Pabna District Motor Owners Group, Habibur Rahman Habib, further said that the owners and workers of Shahjadpur in Sirajganj have been forcibly collecting tolls and beating coaches and bus drivers in Pabna for no reason. for a long time. Apart from this, the owners and workers of Shahjadpur often obstruct the movement of bus trucks over Shahjadpur. Workers at the Pabna property have repeatedly requested redress from the competent authorities, but without success. We want a just and lasting solution. Due to non-compliance with the six-point demand in 72 hours, I have been forced to stop all types of vehicles on all routes in the Pabna district starting at 6am today. We joined the meeting at the request of the Pabna district administration and the Shahjadpur upazila administration. But the leaders of Shahjadpur Malik Samiti did not attend that meeting. As a result, the meeting ended without any decision. However, at the request of Pabna Deputy Commissioner Kabir Mahmud and the Shahjadpur administration, we have postponed the strike until next Monday evening. There will be another meeting with the owner workers at the same location next Monday afternoon. If an effective decision is not made at that meeting, we will begin an indefinite strike on all routes in the district again starting the following day.
Pabna Deputy Commissioner Kabir Mahmud said the meeting was fruitful. The owners have postponed the strike until next Monday. Another meeting with the owners and workers of Sirajganj and Pabna will be held on Monday afternoon to resolve the issue amicably.
