Khulna: All types of transport from Khulna to 18 districts are closed due to the BNP divisional rally.
From 6:00 p.m. on Friday (February 28) to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday (February 28), all means of transport are closed and ordinary passengers are suffering.
Launch operations have been temporarily suspended on three routes in Madinabad, Jorshing and Nildumur in Satkhira in the district’s Koyra upazila. In addition, the trawlers have also decided to close the trawler crossing at East-West Rupsha Ghat and Jail and Senerbazar Ghat from Saturday morning.
Fearing chaos at the BNP rally, the owners stopped all transport on roads and waterways with the dividing city of Khulna for 24 hours.
Anwar Hossain Sona, deputy secretary of the Khulna District Bus, Minibus and Coach Owners Association, said that transportation on Route 18 was closed from 6pm on Friday due to the BNP demonstration. That will continue until 6pm on Saturday.
Khulna Metropolitan BNP Chairman Nazrul Islam Monju said police called the owners of the transportation department and ordered them to stop all traffic on Khulna Highway 16 for 24 hours. The BNP rally will be at any price. The meeting will be held at Maharaj Chattar.
There are pre-announced rallies led by mayoral candidates in six cities across the country to demand fair and credible elections, protest against the conspiracy of martyred President Ziaur Rahman to cancel Bir Uttam Khetam and demand the release of Khaleda Zia. A general assembly is scheduled to be held on February 28 in the city of Khulna.
BNP Vice President Lawyer Shahjahan Omar Bir Uttam will address the rally as the main guest. BNP Senior Vice President Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Vice President Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Deputy Secretary General Moazzem Hossain Alal will be special guests. In addition, the keynote speakers are the mayoral candidates from six cities.
