The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the defendant Kalam for torturing a housewife at the Eklashpur Union of Begumganj Upazila in Noakhali and posting a video of the incident on social media.
Kalam was arrested in Daudkandi upazila de Comilla on Wednesday morning. A total of nine people were arrested in the incident. Earlier, two more people were arrested Tuesday night.
The RAB-11 commander, Lieutenant Colonel Khandaker Saiful Alam, told NTV Online this information around 8pm.
The RAB captain said: ‘I was looking for Kalam but he was a fugitive. We had intelligence, Saiful is in Comilla. Later we raided him and arrested him around 5:30 in the morning.
Khandaker Saiful Alam further said: “We have already sent it to Begumganj Police Station for delivery. Our officials have not yet arrived. And maybe in an hour and a half they will deliver it. The police will decide in which case you will be shown detained.
On September 2, around 9 pm, a housewife entered the house of a housewife in the Eklashpur Union of Begumganj Upazila and tied up her husband in the next room. Then they tried to rape the housewife. At that time, when the housewife interrupted, they stripped the housewife, brutally beat her and recorded the video on her mobile phone. He then spread the video on social media because he did not agree with the unethical proposal. This incident has caused commotion throughout the country.
The victim filed a case with the Begumganj Police Station under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act and the Pornography Control Act on Sunday evening. There, seven or eight more unidentified people were named as defendants. They all live in Begumganj. They are all members of the Delwar Bahini in Eklashpur.
