A businessman named Toakul Mia (55) got down to drink when the train stopped at the Kulaura train crossing station in Moulvibazar. Later, getting off the train, he fell on his hand while getting on the moving train and fell on the train.
He died in a private hospital in Sylhet on Thursday morning after 17 days of treatment. The deceased was identified as Toakul Mia, a resident of the Shamsernagar area in Kamalganj upazila. He is a small merchant in the local market.
Hirman Ali, brother of the deceased, said that the Parabat Express train from Dhaka to Sylhet stopped at Kulaura station on October 5 at 12 noon. At this time Toakul Mia stepped down to the platform for a drink. When the train left suddenly, Toakul Mia ran and tried to get on the train.
At that moment, he lost his balance and fell off the train’s handle. He lost his left arm and leg and was seriously injured.
After the train departed, the locals admitted him to Kulaura Hospital in critical condition. He was referred to Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet because his condition was critical.
Later, the family of businessman Toakul Miah admitted him to a private hospital in Sylhet. Toakul Mia died Thursday morning after receiving treatment there for 18 days. His burial was completed at 4 p.m. Friday.
