Section 35 of the Padma Bridge will settle on Saturday if no technical complications and favorable weather are observed. This span will be placed on the eighth and ninth piers on the Mawa side of Munshiganj. If this section 2-B is installed successfully, 5,250 meters of the bridge will be visible. The bridge authorities have issued a letter to that effect on Friday afternoon.
On the other hand, today the scheduled placement of the span was scheduled but it did not happen due to the navigability crisis near the scheduled piers. The dredging took a day to return to normal. Where a few days ago the water depth was 130 feet, yesterday it was seven feet. In such cases, the interval placement date is changed.
If section 35 is installed, six sections will remain. The installation of section 34 is expected to take seven days. This month three sections have been installed, bringing the number to four. However, if the natural cause is blocked, it may take more than a day.
A bridge engineer, who did not want to be named, said span 35 of the bridge will be placed on piers 6 and 9 of bridge two-B. To do this, the floating crane will carry the section from Mawa Construction Yard at 9am on Saturday. If the weather is favorable and there are no more problems, it will be possible to install the section tomorrow at 2 pm.
Dewan Abdul Quader, executive engineer and project manager (main bridge) of the bridge, said the location of piers 6 and 9 of the bridge is on the Padma river in Louhjong upazila. The job of laying the span on the main river must be done very carefully. Tian-e, a floating crane with a capacity of 3,800 tons, will carry the 150-meter-long gray span from the construction yard at Mawa in Louhjong, Munshiganj. It may take 40-50 minutes for the crane to reach the designated pillar. It will be seen if there is a favorable condition in the river before the start of the section. The rest of the sections are on the edge of Mawa.
It is known that the crane carrying the span will anchor in front of the two pillars. Then, the section will be raised to the height of the pillar by placing it. It will be placed on the bearings of the two pillars. This section will then be welded with the sections previously placed on pillars 6 and 7 on the side. It will take a few days to do so. And, by installing this leg, there will be instructions to run another route while navigating that route.
According to engineering sources, section 36 ‘1-B’ on Pillars 2 and 3 on November 4, section 36 ‘2-C’ on Pillars 9 and 10 on November 11, and section 36 on Pillars 1 and 2 on November 16 ‘1-A’, 39th section ‘2-D’ on pillars 10 and 11 on November 23, 40th section ‘2-E’ on pillars 11 and 12 on December 2 and the last section ‘2-F’ on December 10 In the numerical pillar.
41 spans will be installed in 42 piers of the Padma Bridge. China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Company Limited (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another Chinese company, are working on the 6.15 km long main bridge.
