Dhaka: Tithi Sarkar, an expelled student from Jagannath University accused of insulting Islam, was sent to jail after a day of pretrial detention in a case under the Digital Security Act.

On Saturday (November 14), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam ordered that he be sent to jail.

Another court detained Tithi Sarkar for one day in a Paltan police station digital security case on November 12. At the end of that pre-trial detention, he was presented in court on Saturday and asked to be kept in jail until the end of the investigation. Following the request, the judge rejected his request for bail and sent him to jail.

In the same case, on Thursday (November 11), Tithi’s husband Shiplu Mallick was denied pretrial detention and was sent to jail.

On November 11, Tithi Sarkar and her husband Shiplu Mallick were arrested at the home of a close relative of her husband in Panchdona in Madhabadi, Narsingdi and her husband in the Kaptanbazar area of ​​the capital.

On October 31, the CID cyber monitoring team saw a post on social media that said that Tithi Sarkar had been rescued from the fourth floor of the agency’s Malibagh office. This caused quite a stir.

A man named Niranjan Baral was arrested in the Banasree area of ​​Rampura in connection with the investigation of the fake Facebook post. On November 2, a case was brought under the Digital Security Law against Niranjan and several other unidentified persons at the Paltan Police Station. Niranjan Baral is currently in prison after his pre-trial detention.

Tithi Sarkar left Pallabi’s home at 9 a.m. on October 25 for the police station. He was missing for 15 days. The CID says that Tithi herself organized the drama of the disappeared.
