During the BNP-Jamaat coalition government, Harish Chowdhury was the president of the Bangladesh National Federation of the Deaf (BNFD), Dhaka (National Organization of the Deaf) and Taimur Alam Khandaker was the vice president and Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu was the late BNP leader. . Later, when Harish Chowdhury fled the country during the interim government, the senior vice president, defender Taimur Alam Khandaker, became president of the BNFD under the constitution. Until January of this year, he was president of the National Association of the Blind and Deaf. During his tenure in the BNP alliance, the wife of the then political secretary of Khaleda Zia, Harish Chowdhury, Jochne Ara Chowdhury, was assigned 11 stores of organizations of the blind and deaf completely illegally. He is also accused of embezzling millions of rupees with the help of others by embezzling funds from an organization for the deaf. In separate incidents, the ACC filed a corruption case against him. Deaf people took to the streets to protest against him for embezzling money from the deaf and blind organization. Timur lost by a large margin in the January elections for the deaf organization.
According to the investigation, lawyer Taimur Alam Khandaker, who became the president of the National Association of the Blind and Deaf during the BNP-Jamaat alliance, rescued the Lalbagh site and established a school and university for the deaf there, and established a State-of-the-art National Hospital for the Deaf. He held the position for a long time, dreaming of establishing schools and organizations, holding the International Conference of the Deaf in Bangladesh, and establishing the National Institute of Sign Language. But he completely failed to do all this. On the contrary, he embezzled millions of rupees by giving the land and resources of deaf people to people of his choice.
During his term as president in 2003-08, Taimur Alam Khandaker purchased one acre in Lalbagh for the Dhaka School for the Deaf and 50 percent for the Narsingdi School for the Deaf. He is accused of buying the land at triple the market price at that time. At that time it was alleged that the initiative was taken to buy the land for profit through a union. In addition, as president of BRTC, he employed 40 deaf people by taking bribes of Tk 2 lakh. He extorted millions of rupees to build a national hospital for the deaf and put a small amount of money into the hospital fund. Apart from this, Taimur presented a case in the High Court against 55 life members of his choice who were suspended and canceled on the charge of irregularities and corruption. Apart from this, he grants arbitrary appointments and membership positions to people of his choice.
ACC Deputy Director Sheikh Abdus Salam sent a notification to Timur on August 12, 2015 and summoned him to the Anti-Corruption Commission. The ACC filed a lawsuit against him for not giving a satisfactory answer at the hearing. Apart from that, on January 17 of this year, the blind and deaf set up a human chain program against them in front of the National Press Club. They took to the streets with placards, banners and festoons demanding the release of Timur. Although there are cases of misappropriation of company funds, the skilled lawyer Taimur has kept the cases secret.
