Police from Chandina de Comilla arrested him in the new market area of the capital’s Batera police station at 3 pm on Monday. Russell made a confessional statement in a wise court Tuesday.
Arrested Russell Sheikh (23) is the son of Abdul Samad Sheikh from Munshibari in Madhya Bangram of Muksudpur Police Station in Gopalganj District. He claims to be one of the top 10 on the TickTock Leadership Board in Bangladesh.
Chandina Police Deputy Inspector Noman Hossain said that on the night of July 15 this year, goods worth Tk 11 lakh were stolen from a mobile shop in Chandina Bazar by cutting bars and tin sheds. After viewing CCTV footage of the incident and using information technology, we arrested a thief named Russell Sheikh from Dhaka.
He further said that during questioning, Russell said that he did and acted on the ticket with ‘Apu Bhai’. Chandina used to come and go to the market frequently due to her marriage at Devidwar in Comilla. On April 14, she went to the mobile store to buy a mobile phone and fixed everything. After getting ready for the night, she cut the tin shed and the bar on top of the store and stole 48 new mobiles and cash for around Tk 5 lakh.
Chandina Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsuddin Elias said his main job was stealing even though he was working on a hobby video. During preliminary questioning, he said that he did the work alone. The way the incident unfolded clearly shows that you have experience in this profession.
