Three policemen from the port outpost testified in court

Three policemen have testified in court in relation to the death of 33-year-old Raihan Ahmed at the Bandarbazar outpost in Sylhet. Sylhet Additional Chief Judge of the Metropolitan Court. Police officers Delwar, Saidur and Shamim testified under Section 164 in the Jihadur Rahman court. All three are working at the Bandarbazar outpost in Sylhet. The three officers testified in court as eyewitnesses to Raihan’s torture.

The investigating officer on the case, PBI inspector Mahidul Islam, confirmed the testimony of three witnesses, but declined to say what they said in court or whether they mentioned anyone’s name.

It is known that as of 3 pm on Monday, Additional Chief Judge of the Metropolitan Court. The Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the investigating agency in the case, brought three police officers from the port outpost to Jihadur Rahman’s court.

At around 3 p.m., they began to give witness statements in the Raihan murder case. They testified for about two hours.

It can be mentioned that a young man named Raihan Ahmed (33) was tortured by the police at the Bandarbazar outpost on the morning of October 11. He later died at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning. Raihan is the son of the late Rafiqul Islam of Neharipara in Akhalia, Sylhet. He used to work in a doctor’s office at the city’s Rikabibazar stadium market.

Raihan’s wife filed a case with the Sylhet Kotwali Police Station on the night of October 12, charging unidentified people with the incident. When the police formed an investigation committee, they found Raihan at the outpost and found initial evidence of torture. On the recommendation of the investigation committee, SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, in charge of the Bandarbazar outpost, officers Harunur Rashid, Touhid Mia and Titu Chandra Das were suspended and ASI Ashek Elahi, ASI Qutb Ali and officer Sajib Hossain were removed. However, so far no arrests have been made. The main defendant in the case, SI Akbar, is on the run.

The case presented at the Kotwali police station was transferred to PBI in the direction of the police headquarters. After receiving the investigation, the PBI team inspected the Bandarbazar police post, the city’s foundry house and the home of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the forensic report showed 111 injuries in the body of 30-year-old Raihan Uddin, who was tortured at a police post in Sylhet. Of these lesions, 96 were lilafola lesions and 14 were signs of lesions. These injuries were caused by sticks. Raihan died of a blood clot due to a ruptured vein within his body due to additional injuries.
