Three parliamentary investigation commissions under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges have been formed to investigate allegations of irregularities and mismanagement in the bridge department project.

The committees formed Thursday were asked to conduct a field investigation and submit a report within two months.

The inquiry committee was formed at a meeting of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges held in Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Chairman of the Committee. According to sources from the committee, the meeting presented a report on the latest progress of the general activities of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project and discussed the bids from the Department of Roads and Highways and the Department of Bridges. After discussion, a two-member subcommittee was formed calling on Enamul Haque, a committee member, to investigate allegations of irregularities and corruption in the collection of tolls for the Dhaleshwari Bridge and other bridges in the country.

Another two-member subcommittee was formed summoning committee member Sheikh Salahuddin to investigate allegations of multiple bids being awarded to the same contractor from the Department of Bridges and Road Transportation. In addition, a two-member subcommittee was formed by convening Rezwan Ahmed Tawfiq, a committee member, to examine the issue of resort rental in Bangabandhu Bridge area, Bangabandhu Bridge management, Ananda Park, Picnic Spot and garden (agriculture), land and other infrastructure.

The sources further said that the divisional commissioner, the divisional DIG and representatives of the highway police authorities were invited to the next meeting to take the necessary measures to stop the movement of Nasimon, Karimon, motorized rickshaws, etc. on roads. and roads by removing all local or political obstacles to prevent traffic accidents.
