Dinajpur: Police arrested three more people in connection with the attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi (UN) officer Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali in Dinajpur.
Ghoraghat police raided several places in upazila on Saturday (September 5) afternoon and arrested them.
The main defendants in the case are Ashraful Islam Shaon, 40, Asadul Islam’s older brother, Mali Sultan Kabir, 38, a resident of the UN residence, and Shyamal Kumar, 33, a relative of one of the the defendants in the case, Santu Kumar.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Ghoraghat police station, Amirul Islam, told banglanews that they were detained in the afternoon. The main defendant in the case is related to the detainees. They have been detained for questioning.
Earlier on Wednesday (September 2), criminals broke the fan in UNO’s official residence and attacked Wahida and her father. ONE was seriously injured in the head and her father was seriously injured when she was stabbed with a sharp weapon.
Later, UNO was admitted for the first time to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RAMEC). After that, his condition was critical and he was taken to Dhaka by helicopter for better treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Hospital of the National Institute of Neurosciences in the capital.
