A committee has been formed to investigate the deaths of three people in a train and bus accident in Feni. The tragic accident took place in the Fateh Rail Crossing area of the Dhaka-Chittagong railway around 6:15 am on Sunday.
At least 14 people were injured in the incident. The condition of several of the injured is critical. The railway authorities have formed a five-member investigative committee to investigate the cause of the incident.
According to police and fire brigade sources, an NR Shyamoli Paribahan bus leaving from Chapainawabganj collided with Chittagong Mail in the morning.
Two people were killed on the spot. Another died in hospital. The injured were admitted to hospital. Later, two were sent to Dhaka and one to Chittagong in critical condition.
According to sources from the Feni General Hospital, 11 people injured in the accident are currently in treatment at the hospital. Among them are Monirul (20) from Rajshahi, Abdul Quddus (25) from Chauddagram from Comilla, Faruk Hossain (20), Belal (55), Bejal (55), Sajal (22), Ariful Islam (35), Ashiq ( 18) and Rubel (30) from Chapainawabganj. Dulal (50) from Sonagazi in Feni, Azaharul Islam (22) from Kishoreganj and Randu Khan (24) from Pabna are among them.
Saidur Rahman, a doctor in charge of the hospital’s emergency department, said the three seriously injured had been sent to Dhaka and Chittagong for better treatment. The rest receive the most medical care here. The names of the victims could not be determined.
Shahidullah, a passenger on the bus, said the NR Shyamoli Paribahan bus left Chapainawabganj and left again after a break at the Nur Jahan hotel in Comilla.
In the morning, while sleeping soundly, he suddenly woke up with a loud noise. Then I saw the bus overturned. I couldn’t find out if the bus driver was negligent while he was sleeping.
Meanwhile, porter Abul Kalam, who was on duty at the Fatehpur railway crossing, has been charged with negligence in the train and bus accident. He has been on the run since the incident.
Contradictory statements have been made about Getman. Getman Abul Kalam tried to stop the bus by gesturing. But Riton Chakma, an assistant engineer at the Feni train station, claimed that the train collided with the bus driver when he disobeyed the signal.
However, Feni Railway Police SI said. Saiful Islam said: “After receiving the news of the accident, I went to the scene and did not find Getman at the railway crossing.” Perhaps he was asleep at the time of the accident. Run away later.
On the other hand, the master of the Feni train station, Mahbubur Rahman, said that the railway authorities have formed a five-member committee to investigate the cause of the accident.
He said a line had been temporarily closed due to the accident. However, the Dhaka-Chittagong railway communication through other lines is normal.
