Three days before Jessore Sadar Upazila’s election, criminals raided the BNP office and the homes of district leaders late Saturday night. Violence was reported in the homes of seven BNP district leaders in different parts of the city.

At the same time, the leaders alleged that the district BNP office on the banks of the Laldighi was attacked and closed.

Jessore Sadar Upazila Paris had partial elections for the position of president tomorrow, October 20. The BNP alleges that the Awami League has caused this incident surrounding this election. However, the Awami League has denied the allegations.

Jessore District BNP Joint Coordinator Delwar Hossain Khokon said at the home of Nargis Begum District BNP Coordinator, Joint Coordinator Delwar Hossain Khokon, Secretary Member Saberul Haque Sabu, Members Mizanur Rahman Khan, Anichur Rahman Mukul , Golam Reza Dulu and Nagar BNP Secretary General Munir Ahmed Siddi. The attack was carried out.

From 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Saturday, the criminals seized several private cars and more than 20 motorcycles in front of the houses of seven BNP leaders and threw bricks and smashed them. Khokon also alleged that the attackers chanted slogans in favor of the ship and threatened not to go to the polls.

Eskendar Ali Johnny, publicity secretary for the Juba Dal district, alleged that around 2 am, two people arrived on motorcycles and stood in front of the party office. At that point he (Johnny) got off the voters list for the by-elections after completing the job of making ballots.

The motorcyclists stood in front of him and threatened to pull a pistol from his waist. One of the attackers said: “I will cut you into four parts, I will vote.”

He said that at that moment 20 more motorcycles and two private cars came and stopped and the motorcyclists got out and entered the party office and destroyed it and beat some people inside. Voter lists and ballots were kept. Upon exiting, the two entrances to the office were closed.

Delwar Hossain Khokon, joint coordinator of the district BNP, said that he had lodged a complaint with the CO of Jessore Kotwali Police Station during the unrest, but did not take any effective action. I just said, I’m sending force.

Khokon further said that this is happening in all elections during the term of this government. The same happened in this election. The BNP is trying to ensure the presence of voters in the electoral field. The Awami League has carried out this violence with the intention of annulling the elections by obstructing that effort. We were not disappointed. We will be on the ground until the end to get the voters to the polling station.

However, the general secretary of the Jessore District Awami League, MP Shahin Chakladar, has denied the BNP’s allegations. “I am in Dhaka,” he said. I think it is a game played by BNP. The choice is exactly what the BNP did. Knowing that they will not be able to pass the vote, they try to dilute the situation.

Jessore Kotwali OC Moniruzzaman Police Station said police were dispatched to the scene after receiving complaints from BNP leaders overnight. BNP has not submitted any written complaint in this regard. Action will be taken as soon as the complaint is received.
