At a joint press conference on Monday afternoon, ISPAB President MA Hakim said: “I will request the government to stop the elimination of the alternative until it is done.” Otherwise, we are announcing programs to fix the problem.
“If this issue is not resolved by October 16, data connectivity to the Internet and cable TV services will be symbolically shut down at all levels, including homes, offices, courts and banks, from 10am to 1pm every day from Sunday October 16 until This problem is being resolved “.
ISPAB’s 5-point claim is: 1. No hanging wire can be removed until a permanent solution is found. 2. A committee made up of ISPAB, Coab, BTRC, NTTN, and City Corporation will have to organize an on-site investigation through a committee to determine if the last mail wire has been installed. 3. Prices for cable TV and Internet services at all levels, including home, office, and bank, must be set through the appropriate ministry. 4. The price of NTTN has to be set by the government to provide low-cost Internet and cable television services at the consumer level. 5. A system should be in place to verify that NTTNs (national telecommunications transmission networks) have the overall capacity to ensure uninterrupted service at the village level.
The joint press conference was held at the National Press Club’s Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall.
Operators of the National Telecommunications Transmission Network (NTTN) are supposed to provide Internet and cable television services through underground lines. But instead, it has been brought home by tying it to power poles for broadband internet, phone line, and dish line.
Almost all the roads in Dhaka are now lined with cables overhead. Accidents happen from time to time due to tearing of these cables that are in a dangerous condition; Sometimes it also starts fires. Despite the court order to eliminate the Internet, telephone and cable television with high-power transmission lines, no utility company is complying with it.
The cable removal started a few days ago through a mobile court in the two corporate areas of Dhaka city. But after cutting it, the service providers are pulling it again to connect. As a result, clients suffer for a few hours.
ISPAB claims that broadband Internet service providers lost more than Rs 100 million in the deal.
