Khulna Range Police Additional DIG AKM Nahidul Islam Rahat said those involved in the demolition of the Bangabandhu sculpture in Kushtia have been identified. He confirmed the matter to the Daily Ittefaq Online at 11:30 pm on Saturday.
He said those involved would be arrested and brought to justice soon.
Earlier, he visited the place where the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was broken in Kushtia around 8:30 pm. The Kushtia Police Superintendent and senior district police officials were present with him at the time. While visiting the place, DIG Nahidul Islam Rahat spoke with the locals.

A group of criminals in a minibus at the Bangabandhu sculpture facility raised a black flag over a bamboo rehearsal and sculpture enclosure in the presence of police around 8:30 pm on Saturday. The criminals then fired a series of blank shots and at one point escaped in the minibus.
It can be mentioned that the right hand, the entire face and part of the left hand of the Bangabandhu sculpture under construction at the intersection of five roads in the Kushtia municipality were destroyed at some point on Friday night.
