RAB has found a torture cell on the 14th floor of the Medina Ashiq tower, owned by Haji Selim, in Chawkbazar, the capital. Haji Selim’s son Irfan Selim’s own torture cell was raided at the Ashiq Tower in Medina at night after receiving intelligence information.
According to Irfan, RAB raided a room on the 14th floor of the Medina Ashiq tower near Irfan’s home after 6:30 pm on Monday (October 26).
Director of the legal and media wing of RAB Headquarters Lt. Colonel Ashiq Billah confirmed the information and said that the torture cell belonged to Irfan Selim. All kinds of torture equipment have been seized there.
During the operation, ropes, hammers, rods, human bones, towels, walkie-talkies used for nets and various tools used for torture were found in the room.
Victims who have been tortured are asked to get in touch.
Previously, the son of Dhaka-6 District Councilor MP Haji Selim, Irfan Selim, and his bodyguard, Md. Zahid have been imprisoned for a year by a mobile RAB court.
At a press conference on Monday (October 26) evening, RAB spokesman Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah said the two had been sentenced to six months in prison each for possession of illegal walkie-talkies and six months each for possession of foreign drugs.
Earlier in the afternoon, RAB began raiding Irfan Selim’s home. The operation recovered 36 walkie-talkies, five VPS sets, a pistol with weapons, a single-barreled pistol, a briefcase, a handcuff, a drone and seven bottles of foreign liquor and beer.
The rescue operation was led by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam.
Irfan Selim said that during questioning, he used these walkie-talkies to communicate with leaders and followers within five to 12 kilometers of his home.
According to the RAB, law enforcement agencies were unable to detect the rescued VPS. They were rescued from the control rooms on the fourth and fifth floors of their home.
Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam said Irfan Selim was unable to give a satisfactory answer on the guns and handcuffs. We think he used to intimidate ordinary people with these. Both of his weapons were unlicensed.
Sunday evening (October 25) MP Haji Mohammad. Wasif Ahmed Khan, a naval officer, was beaten after exiting a government vehicle inscribed “Member of Parliament” by Selim. The incident took place near the Kalabagan landmark in the capital. Despite the GD incident in the evening, a case was brought against seven people, including Haji Selim’s son, this morning (Monday).
