Cox’s Bazar police officer in Teknaf, OC Pradeep Kumar Das, charged with the murder of Major (Retired) Sinha, has not been able to meet with lawyers and relatives in jail for the time being. Not only that, from now on you will not be able to communicate with anyone on your mobile.
Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman approved the order on Tuesday (October 13).
The matter was confirmed by ACC PP defender Kazi Sanwar Ahmed Lavlu.
He said the defendant’s lawyer had requested the opportunity to contact him via his mobile phone after the opportunity to meet OC Pradeep was blocked. But he also rejected the request.
At the beginning of September 26, a letter from the jail authorities reached the court with reference to the DIG Prison at Chittagong Central Jail.
The defendants applied to the court for permission to use mobile phones when they stopped seeing relatives or lawyers.
However, ACC lawyers said the prison authorities’ policy on those accused of brutal terrorism, brutal murder and extortion would remain in effect while the case against Pradeep was ongoing.
