However, the Minister of Education, Dipu Moni, has also expressed doubts about whether it will be possible to carry out such a test in the event of an epidemic.
He said that based on the results of the JSC and SSC, the results of the final evaluation of the HSC will be released by next December, so the admission process to the university can start from January.
Asked by reporters at a virtual press conference on Wednesday, the Education Minister said: “We hope to be able to take the admissions tests in all kinds of universities in an integrated way.”
“Because there are still three months left,” he said, adding that the decision would be made in consultation with the university. After three months, a decision will be made based on the circumstances of that evaluation. “
Since the coronavirus outbreak in the country last March, 3 lakh 63,000 people have been infected and 5,440 people have died. In the last day 35 people have died and more than 1,500 patients have been identified.
As it was decided not to take the HSC exam in this situation, the Ministry of Education has formed a committee of experts to advise on the evaluation of the exam.
Dipu Moni said the committee would also comment on the college admissions test, adding that he hoped to get the committee’s full advice by the first week of November.
“If I say now that the merit will be fully verified in the university level exams, can I now guarantee that the situation will be the same as in the university entrance exams?
“We hope that the situation improves even more and it is possible to take university exams. The method for taking the university admission tests will be decided after discussions with the university authorities “
At the moment, it is not appropriate to say anything definitive about such things, the education minister said.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, said that the way in which the admission test will be carried out will be decided through the discussion of the expert committee with the university authorities.
Currently, there are 46 public universities in the country. Of these, 80,000 places at 39 universities are open to graduates (honors) in the first year.
As universities conduct admissions tests in different ways, students who have passed the HSC have to take the test from one end of the country to the other.
Students must take different types of preparation for different universities to take the admissions test in the same subject. Again, if the exam date is read by more than one university in a day, the student must choose any educational institution.
The Ministry of Education and the UGC have been trying to get admission to all public universities through a comprehensive exam in recent years to alleviate the suffering of the students and the expenses of the parents.
But this was not possible due to objections from the universities.
However, due to opposition from five institutions, including Dhaka University and BUET, UGC was unable to succeed in that initiative last time.
