The deputy AKM Bahauddin is the president of the Metropolitan Awami League Committee and Anjum Sultana is the vice president of the same committee. The Afzal Khan family has been at odds with Bahauddin for 36 years.
In a written statement at the press conference, MP Anjum Sultana said that the accusation made by MP AQM Bahauddin that Afzal Khan had embezzled between Rs 30-40 million from Comilla Modern High School was completely false, imaginary and intentional. At the press conference, MP Anjum Sultana said that the forced extraction of sand from the Gumti River in Comilla, offices and facilities of various departments is being carried out under his unethical instructions. This year MP Bahauddin’s people are in a quandary as they failed to get the lease of Balumhal on the Gumti River. Who is Balumahal threatening to shut down? For 12 years its people have swallowed the sand.
