In Lalpur, Natore, a 10-year-old girl was taken in a boat and raped by 4 young men. Although the incident took place on September 26, a case was filed at the Lalpur Police Station on the night of October 4 as it was not resolved locally. The boy’s father said that on the afternoon of the 28th, his son (10) went to play with his friends on the banks of the Padma River near the town of Naopara. Mahafuz, son of Mustaq, Rimon Ali, son of Rantu, Selim, son of Abdur Rahim and Shishir, son of Rezaul from the same area, grabbed their son by the face and took him in a boat and raped his time. At that time, Shishir recorded a video of the rape. In the end, they threatened to kill the boy and fled. Later in the evening, the son came home and informed the father.
The boy’s father demanded justice from the dignitaries and elders of the area. Later, on September 30, Durduria filed a written complaint with UP member Altaf Hossain. But after rescuing the boy from the video of the rape, the matter was postponed for resolution.
The boy’s father admitted him to the Lalpur Upazila Health Complex on September 2 and filed a case at the Lalpur police station on October 4, as he was unable to obtain justice locally.
Local UP member Altaf Hossain confirmed the incident and said he had seen the video. However, it was not possible to referee for various reasons.
Abdur Razzak, a resident doctor at the Lalpur Health Complex, said the girl had been raped. Lalpur Police Station OC Selim Reza told reporters that police have been conducting operations to catch the accused since receiving the complaint. Shishir was arrested around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Attempts are being made to arrest the remaining defendants.
