The flow of people to Dhaka, which has been going on for twenty days, has stopped and this time the flow of people going to 21 districts of southern Bengal has been reduced to Mawa. Hundreds of passengers have been crossing the Shimulia-Kanthalbari route since Friday morning. The pressure of small vehicles going south of Bengal has also increased.

A line of about a kilometer and a half from Shimulia Ghat to Chandra’s house fell on a small vehicle waiting for the ferry crossing. Hundreds of people crowded the ferry in this way, raising fears of an increase in crown infections.

Once again, those who are a little afraid of the crown do not curl up, but stand next to the ghat in the distance and see the condition of the ghat. What to do, go to the ferry in the middle of so many people, or if it is a little lighter, get on the ferry. People are falling into such thoughts for fear of Corona. Those who come to Dhaka from South Bengal are also in dire straits. By pushing people waiting on the pontoon, car and ferry passengers have trouble getting up.

Dhaka passengers come to Shimulia Ghat by Uber minibuses, private cars, Laguna, motorcycles, and offline vehicles when the buses are closed. Passengers cross the ferry when the launch and the boat close at Shimulia Ghat.

The government has extended the general holiday. Clothing factories and stores are not fully open and may return home. Furthermore, the government has announced that they will have to stay in their respective houses in Eid and will not be able to return to their homes. So maybe all these people are already running home.

Helal Uddin, Mawa Traffic Zone IT, said the number of passengers heading to South Bengal has increased since the morning, along with pressure from small vehicles. The pressure of this little car has been stretched for a mile. Dhaka people come to Mawa in different small vehicles and cross the ferry. There is a lot of pressure on the small cars that go south of Bengal.

Sirajul Kabir, the inspector in charge of the Mawa Naval Police Post, said it appeared that people were coming home to celebrate Eid after the Eid purchases. Hundreds of people heading south from Bengal rush through Shimulia-Kathalbari to their people’s houses today. Just a few days ago there was a passenger descent to Dhaka, and today the passenger descent to South Bengal has started.

Md Shafiqul Islam, AGM of BIWTC’s Shimulia Ghat, said that although 13 ferries were sailing, there were problems loading and unloading due to pressure from vehicles and passengers bound for South Bengal. This problem occurs due to the ha-ya-ba-ra-l condition on the pontoon. Also, the staff cannot work properly for fear of the crown. They don’t want to go in crowds. One of our staff has already been infected with Corona. Today, the number of passengers heading to South Bengal has decreased.
