This time Hasnat Abdul Hai and Nahida Nahid will receive the ‘Humayun Ahmed Sahitya’ award

Exim Bank – Another Day Humayun Ahmed Literary Award 2020 has been announced. This year’s award goes to veteran storyteller Hasnat Abdul Hai for his overall contribution to literature and to Nahida Nahid in the new literary category. They will receive five lakhs and one lakh rupees as prizes respectively.

Shields, scarves and certificates will also be awarded. The award will be officially presented to Hasnat Abdul Hai and Nahida Nahid at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of the Bangla Academy on Thursday afternoon.

Hasnat Abdul Hai has been writing for six decades. The main characteristic of his writing is diversity. New experiments avoiding stereotypes and repetitions. Their stories were embodied in the novel socio-economic-political issues, human life, love, etc. It has introduced the genre of biographical novels in the literature of this country. It has made its mark on travel history. He also writes on development economics and social contexts, aesthetics and politics with equal vigor.

Nahida Nahid. A promising storyteller. He has a master’s degree in Bengali language and literature from Jahangirnagar University. He began his career with a short story entitled ‘Coconut Leaf Glasses’ published in the Bhorer Kagoj newspaper. The first book of stories is ‘Flor de Alkar’. Later, two more stories were published: ‘Juthachari Andharer Galpa’ and ‘Purushpath’

Nahida Nahid has already received the “Young Poet and Pen and Ink Writer” award. This time he will receive ‘Exim Bank-Anyadin Humayun Ahmed Sahitya Puraskar 2020’ in the new literary category of the storybook ‘Purushapath’.

By the way, in 2015, Shawkat Ali and Sadia Mahjabin Imam received awards in these two categories respectively. Hasan Azizul Haque and Swakrta Noman were awarded in 2016.

On the other hand, the award was presented to Jyoti Prakash Dutt and Mozaffar Hossain in 2016. Rizia Rahman and Fatima Rumi were awarded in 2016. And in 2019, the award was presented to Rabia Khatun and Sadat Hossain.
