France sentenced a Pakistani imam to 18 months in prison for inciting terrorism and expelled him from the country. A court in Paris has ordered him to return home as soon as his prison sentence ends.
Lukman Haider is known to have arrived in France from Pakistan in 2015. He posted three provocative videos on social media after the September 25 terrorist attack in front of the former office of the French newspaper Shirley Abdo. The imam praised the attacker in the videos. Imam wrote that everyone in Pakistan knew this heroic man. He has earned the dignity and respect of the Prophet. Lukman also made several comments in support of terrorism.
The administration became concerned after the videos were released. The case began after the arrest of Pakistani citizen Lukman Haider.
On September 25, an assassin attacked Shirley Abdo’s former satirical office in eastern Paris with a knife. Two people were injured in the attack.
