Accused Saheed’s behavior surprised me. Although weapons were recovered from his car, Shahed repeatedly claimed in court that the car was not his. He later admitted that the vehicle’s ownership registration documents came to light. Shahid is a cunning criminal. In our society, there are many intelligent people like Saheed, for whom the verdict of this case will serve as a message.
The court made the remarks at the beginning of the verdict in the weapons case against the president of Regent Hospital on Monday.
The court said the verdict will set an example for other members of society that they are misleading. The judge then sentenced him to life imprisonment under section 19A of the Gun Act for possessing a foreign pistol. At the same time, under section “C” of the law, Shahed was sentenced to seven years in prison for dismissal.
Following the verdict, the judge said that Shahed bought the car with a loan of Tk 20 lakh. But he did not confess in court. Shahid gave false information to the court. He is a very smart and cunning person. He was unable to obtain any mercy from the court as it was shown that he had a gun in his car.
After hearing the verdict, Shahed, who was in the dock, became very broke. He seemed annoyed.
The judge sentenced Shahed to life imprisonment under section 19 (a) of the Gun Act, which is the maximum sentence provided by the law. In another section, Shahed was sentenced to seven years in prison. However, since the penalty of the two sections will be effective together, life imprisonment will be applicable in your case.
Detectives detained Shahid after he was arrested at the Debhata border in Satkhira on the morning of July 15. During pre-trial detention, a pistol with ammunition and some drugs were seized from his car in a raid in Uttara on the night of July 18.
