Responding to a question from reporters, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said that experts had initially identified 10 sites for the construction of the Antzela bus terminal. We cut four from there and fixed four. The rest of the places are far away. These cannot be used in practice. He added that if the four sites could be identified based on everyone’s opinion, construction of the terminal would begin next year.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Atiqul Islam, said that the route from Ghatarchar to Motijheel used to be operated by 29 companies with 160 buses. They used to race and drive buses on the highway. They have taken the initiative to run it through a company. They have spoken with the owners and workers of the buses. Everyone wants the city buses to circulate through the city to restore order to the capital.
The mayor of the DNCC said that urban buses will circulate within the city. Buses from different districts will stop at designated bus terminals around Dhaka. This will stop the bus competition in the city.
The two mayors said that the Gabtoli, Mohakhali and Sayedabad bus terminals would be operated as city terminals, adding that city buses would not be able to use these places as terminals. Antzela Bus is using them as terminals. They have taken the initiative to change this situation.
