There must be a sculpture of Bangabandhu in Dholaipara: Bridge Minister 983259 | Voice of tomorrow

Awami League Secretary General and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that those who have shown the audacity to attack the sculpture of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman must pay the maximum price. No one will be saved if they find adequate evidence involved in this incident. Sculpture work under construction will continue in Dholaipara. There must be sculpture.

I was answering a question from journalists at a press conference on contemporary issues in the conference room of the Department of Road and Highway Transportation at the Sambar Secretariat here today.

The bridge minister said work on the sculpture under construction will continue. We will build sculptures. It is up to them to decide what to offer. The sculpture has been in different countries, where no one has officially opened. Maybe it’s a matter of getting permission from a legitimate company. And we have not officially inaugurated the sculpture.

He said that those who would cause such incidents must be guilty of treason. Because Bangabandhu is the father of our nation. There are sculptures in countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan. Sculptures are also found in Muslim countries.

He said that the people of that country do not talk about sculpture there. And the idol is the worship of a deity, and the sculpture here is the sculpture of man. Gods are worshiped, but people are not worshiped here. So why do they take it that way? What they did in Kushtia, they also attacked the Madhudar sculpture at Dhaka University. Whoever does it and whoever shows their audacity will have to pay the maximum price.

The Minister of Road Transport said that religion is very sensitive in Bangladesh. Therefore, we do not want a hasty decision to create a volatile situation in the country. The government wants to resolve the crisis politically.

An apolitical organization has brought a case regarding the vandalism of the Bangabandhu sculpture. When asked how he sees the problem, he said that Bangabandhu does not belong to any party. So it is positive to sue an apolitical organization. Not as a defendant in the warrant, no one will be exempt if they find adequate evidence. We are in the government. You cannot make a decision by heating your head in a hurry. The prime minister is investigating the matter himself. We want to make a decision with thought and reason.

Obaidul Quader said: “We will take action if we find any evidence that someone has given the order.” We are in government, in power. We have to move forward with a cool head. You should not warm your head with words. We have to understand and deal with the situation. I don’t want to create unrest in the country unnecessarily by taking action against anyone. We want to discuss.
