Electoral Commissioner Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury does not believe that there is any basis for the accusations made by eminent persons against the Electoral Commission (EC). He also said that the accusations by prominent people may have been motivated. However, they will not find any connection in this regard.

Election Commissioner Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury said this in response to a question from reporters in his office in the Electoral Building on Sunday afternoon.

Forty-two prominent citizens have demanded that the current EC, led by KM Nurul Huda, be investigated for allegations of serious misconduct, financial corruption and irregularities through the formation of a Supreme Judicial Council. They have made this demand in writing to the president.

Election Commissioner Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury said there is not much to say about the statements of eminent persons. It is up to the president to decide what to do with the accusations that have been made to the president. However, people will see if the statements of eminent persons have become unethical.

In response to a question, Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury said that the current commission is doing everything it can to hold fair, free and fair elections.
