Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that Turkey should participate in any peace process with Nagorno-Karabakh. He spoke at a time when tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia were rising in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“The peace process must begin,” he said. The war cannot last forever. In that case, it is better to start the peace talks as soon as possible, but Turkey must be included in those talks. “
The President of Azerbaijan said this in an interview with the Turkish TRT center media on Monday.
He said that Turkey is a major emerging regional power and a country in the South Caucasus region. Aliyev also commented that Ankara’s position was a warning to others.
In an interview, the Azerbaijani president said that his country’s troops had been able to retake several areas of Karabakh. A ceasefire would only be possible if Baku was assured from the international arena that Yerevan would completely withdraw its troops from the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
“We have not looked at the land of any other country, but our land must remain in our hands,” Ilham Aliyev said.
Earlier, in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, Aliyev promised that Azerbaijan would not reach a ceasefire until Armenia announced a clear timetable for troop withdrawal. Parstude
