Dhaka: After the cancellation of the JSC-JDC exams, the government will develop a guideline considering some options for the promotion of students from 8th grade to 9th grade in the Corona situation.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Intereducation Board at the Dhaka Board of Education on Thursday (September 24) afternoon.

President of the Coordination Subcommittee of the Inter-educational Board and President of the Board of Education. Ziaul Haque presided over it.

After the two-and-a-half hour meeting, Ziaul Haque told reporters that the JSC exam had been canceled in the current situation. We have a decision to make on how to promote our students to the next class after the exam is canceled.

“We have thought that our educational institutions will evaluate students in their own evaluation process and will move them to the next class. We are developing a guide to ensure that in the future, if a problem arises in the evaluation process or the evaluation process, it can be done correctly. We will create this guide with our test unit. Accordingly, I will evaluate the students and move them to the next class. ‘

When asked if the guidelines would be announced soon, the president of the intereducational board said it would take some time to formulate the guidelines.

‘Initially (guideline) has been set: class activities will continue in educational institutions until March 15. So far the students have received a lesson. After that, Sangsad participated in television and online classes. The class will then be evaluated for promotion to the next class based on the amount of teaching that will be possible from then until December. I will link places that cannot be taught in the next class, but are not required. For example, when class begins in the ninth grade, I will instruct you to teach in the eighth grade what is most needed. ‘

When asked what would happen if the educational institution did not open in November or December, he said: “If not, I will evaluate it in March and with Parliament’s lessons and online classes.”
When asked if the evaluation was a test or in some other way, he said that the evaluation would depend on many things. If the assessment situation is created in the classroom, so be it. If you can evaluate online, you will be online. And if you can’t test online, then all the teachers in the school know the student. Continuus will evaluate based on available evaluation. I cannot say any specific method of evaluation at this time. That will also depend on the situation.

In this regard, Ziaul Haque said that there is no car promotion, everything will be based on the evaluation. If the situation is like opening an educational institution, if our students can go back to the classroom, then there may be face-to-face exams. Institutions will be able to take online exams if it is seen that students do not have the opportunity to return to the classroom. Many of our organizations are now taking the test online. Other boards or educational institutions may post it online at their capacity.

Evaluation of other categories

The Department of Secondary and Higher Education and the NCTB will issue guidelines for sixth and seventh grades later, Ziaul Haque said.

And in the case of the ninth class, an evaluation will also be made in the same way and the next class will be approved. Because the ninth and tenth class together is a study program. Half of the curriculum is taught in ninth grade and the next part in tenth grade. What is in the ninth grade will be taught in the tenth grade. And we will finish what is left in 10th grade when we open school. ‘

Regarding the promotion from class XI to class XII, he said that educational institutions will evaluate in their own way and hand it over to class XII.

The chairman of the Dhaka Board said that most of them have almost approved the curriculum. Internal testing began, many were about to be tested. So there is not much problem with them.

Still not sure about HSC

The president of the inter-educational board said: “We have nothing to do with this work (announcement of the date of the HSC exam). Announcing the date of the HSC exam is not the responsibility of the presidents. It is not the current normal situation. In this situation, there is no opportunity to announce the date of the test.

Although there wasn’t much discussion about the HSC exam, the presidents of the board of education told the meeting that they are ready to take the HSC exam as soon as they have 15 days. However, the Ministry of Education will announce the date of the HSC exam.
