A young man named Shaon (25) disappeared from a train on his way back to Chuadanga from Joydebpur in Gazipur. However, eyewitnesses said that blood marks were seen on the train door. The incident took place on the Khulna-bound Chitra Express intercity train that left Dhaka on Wednesday evening.

Abun Kathan and his wife, who were with Shaon, were kept in the custody of the head of the Mirzapur railway station for investigation. Family members of the missing Shawn were informed. Shaon is the son of Shaul Nawdar, a Missionpara Christian in the Karpasdanga union of Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district. Abun Kathan and his wife’s house are also in the same area. After this incident, the train started its journey to Khulna after a journey of about an hour at Mirzapur railway station.

BRAC officer Sharif, a passenger on the same train, said that Shaon, Abun Kathan and his wife boarded car ‘C’ from Joydebpur railway station. Shortly after exiting the train, Shawn got up from his seat and walked to the door, talking on his cell phone. When he did not return for a long time, everyone started looking for him on suspicion. The matter was reported to the staff in charge of the train without getting Shawn. When the train stopped at Mirzapur railway station, they couldn’t find it even after searching all the bogies. Later, a drop of blood was found on the door in front of Shawn. The matter has caused panic among passengers and train staff. Later, when the matter was reported to the stationmaster, the stationmaster detained the two people who were with Shaon. The train resumed its journey almost an hour later.

He added that the passengers were talking when Shawn was talking on a cell phone with his head out in front of the door. At that moment, someone pushed him and threw him, or hit the signpost because he stuck his head out and fell.

Abun Kathan, who was with Shaon, said: ‘Me, my wife and my older brother’s brother-in-law boarded the train from Joydebpur to Chuadanga. After a while, Shawn got a call and headed to the train door. I called him after not coming back for a long time, but his cell phone was found turned off. When in doubt we start the search. Not finding it, I informed the staff in charge of the train. They also found Shaon in all the buggies. Your mobile phone is off.

He added: ‘We sat in our seats. There were more people at the door. Later I asked them. They said Shawn was on the phone with his head off. However, it is believed that someone pushed him while talking on his mobile phone. Or the signpost has been hit due to the head sticking out. Later, the train policemen handed me and my wife over to the head of the Mirzapur railway station.

The Mirzapur railway station teacher, Nazmul Huda, confirmed the matter. The place where the incident occurred is outside the Mirzapur station area. And where it fell, that area is near the local Mouchak station. As it is in the middle of Joydebpur-Mirzapur station, we have informed senior officials. The police are already working to find Shawn. Furthermore, Shaon’s relatives have been informed. They went out at night. Abun Kathan and his wife, who were with Shaon, were taken off the train and taken into custody to investigate the incident.

The officer in charge of the Mirzapur (OC) police station said: ‘I haven’t heard anything about this yet. If that happened, it would be a tragedy. I will examine the matter now.
