It is alleged that a young woman was raped by closing the doors and windows of the bus. Bus driver Arif Hossain Sohel (28) and deputy Babu Sheikh (22) have been arrested in the incident. Supervisor (32) Alam is on the run. They have been accused of raping the girl.
The two arrested have been sent to jail through the court in search of a preventive detention of 7 days. The girl was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital (Kumek) for medical treatment. She was placed on remand in the custody of her mother on Wednesday night after giving a statement in court.
According to the family and the details of the case, the girl went to her cousin’s home in Abdullahpur, Dhaka on Friday (September 11). On Monday (September 14), the cousin left his sister’s house to return home. From there he reached the Sayedabad Bus Terminal in Dhaka.
The girl left the Sayedabad bus terminal on a Tisha Plus bus around 11:30 pm for Shasnagachha in Comilla. On the way, Shasnagachha asked the bus driver, assistant and supervisor to drop him off at the bus station. They will disappoint you there and forbid you to get uptight about it. But the bus driver did not take the girl to the Shasnagachha bus station and took her to the Paduar Bazar Bishbrod area.
According to the case, the bus driver Arif Hossain Sohel, the assistant Babu Sheikh and the supervisor Alam locked the doors and windows of the bus around 4 am on Tuesday and raped the girl in various ways. Later, the bus driver Arif Hossain Sohel got off the bus and left. Then the assistant Babu Sheikh and supervisor Alam took the girl off the bus and took her to Babu Sheikh’s house in the Paduar Bazar area and raped her again. At around 8 a.m., the young woman was asked to leave the house when she was ill. The girl later informed her mother about the incident on her mobile phone.
The girl’s mother arrived at the Paduar Bazar Bishbrod area around 2 p.m. Tuesday and collected the names and addresses of the defendants. She then filed a gang rape case against the three at the Comilla Sadar South Model Police Station the same night.
The girl’s mother said her daughter worked in a garment factory in Gazipur. Moved home 5 months ago for Corona. Last Friday she went to Dhaka in search of work and went to her cousin’s house. On the way home from there, she was the victim of such a cruel incident. She demanded exemplary punishment for her daughter’s brutal torturers.
Bimal Dey, director of Tisha Plus Transport, told reporters Thursday afternoon: “The owner of the bus on which the incident occurred is Dulal Hossain Apu, Managing Director (MD) of transport.” However, we demand severe punishment for those who caused this incident.
Dulal Hossain Apu, MD of Transportation, told reporters: “After discovering that the driver, the aide and the supervisor of Dhaka Metro-B 15-396 had caused the incident, we arrested the driver and two others and handed them over to the policeman”.
Comilla Sadar Sur (investigation) model police station inspector and investigating officer for the case, Kamal Krishna Dhar, told reporters that bus drivers Arif Hossain Sohel and Babu Sheikh were arrested in the incident. An attempt is being made to arrest the other defendant in the case.
