A boyfriend named Asadul Islam (22) has been fined Taka 40,000 by a mobile court for child marriage in Basail upazila of Tangail.

The incident took place in the Sunya Paschimpara village of upazila on Tuesday night.

The prisoner is Asadul Islam, son of Fannu Miah from Berbari Khandakarpara village in Sakhipur upazila.

Locals said Asadul Islam, a Saudi expatriate, married 14-year-old Samaria Akhter, daughter of Sabur Miah from Sunya Paschimpara village in the Kauljani union of the Upazila on Sunday.

On Monday, the day after the wedding, the newlyweds come to visit the bride’s parents.

Based on secret information, Upazila Nirbahi’s officer, Shamsun Nahar Swapna, appeared at the home Tuesday afternoon. At that time, the boyfriend Asadul was arrested and taken to the executive officer’s office. A mobile court fined him 40,000 rupees.

In this regard, said Upazila Nirbahi’s officer, Shamsun Nahar Swapna, the house was raided by the news that an eighth-grade student was married. Later, the truth of the incident was discovered. The groom was arrested from there. After that, he was fined 40 lakhs.
