Police arrested Al Mamun Mohan, 32, who had returned from abroad for allegedly stabbing his university student wife Tanzina Akhter Ritu, 20, in Faridganj.

The incident took place in the Gridkalindia area of ​​the upazila on Wednesday night. Tanzina’s mother and younger brother were also stabbed during the incident.

According to Faridganj police sources, Tanzina Akter Ritur, daughter of Selim Khan of Khan Bari in the Gridkalindia village of Rupsha South Union, Faridganj, along with Al Mamun Mohan, son of Montaz Master from the village of Shaistanagar in neighboring Raipur upazila.

After a year of marriage, Mamun went to Saudi Arabia. A year and a half later, he returned and sat unemployed. On the afternoon of the incident, Mamun came from his home in Raipur to his father-in-law’s home in Gridkalindia. During Iftar, there was a family fight with his wife Tanzina Akhter Ritu. At one point, Al Mamun became angry and started stabbing Ritu at random. Ritu’s mother Parveen Akhter (45) and her brother Prant (18) heard screams and Al Mamun stabbed them. Later, when Al Mamun tried to flee, the locals detained him and turned him over to the police.

Faridganj police, SI Kazi, said. Zakaria said that Al Mamun had been taken to the police station. When Tanjina Akhter Ritu and her mother Parveen were taken to the Faridganj Health Complex with stab wounds, the doctor on duty declared Tanjina dead. Parveen Akhter was referred to Chandpur Sadar Hospital in critical condition. The wounded brother Prant has been treated locally.

The officer in charge of the Faridganj police station, Abdur Rakib, said: “Al Mamun informed the police that his wife Tanzina was involved in adultery.” Tanzina embezzled all the money she sent from abroad. Tanzina didn’t even care about him as a husband. He admitted that he stabbed her in anger. Tanzina’s body was sent to the Chandpur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case against Al Mamun has been registered.
