Professor Narayan Chandra Saha, Chairman of the NCTB, told the Bengali Tribune: “At the last meeting a draft of the curriculum from early childhood education to class XII was presented. In the structure of the curriculum, we have said that if there are two days of weekly leave, there will be no problem. This new curriculum will be introduced from 2022.
According to relevant sources, holidays are two days a week, Friday and Saturday. But the holiday at the academy is only on Friday. The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has proposed extending this holiday. The proposal says that even if the license is extended, there will be no detriment to students’ educational activities. The NCTB has proposed to implement the decision of these two weekly holidays starting in 2022. However, the decision of this holiday can be implemented at any time if the two ministries so desire.
Classes are held 215 days a year at the school during existing weekly and other holidays. If the weekly holiday is declared Saturday, the class will last 175 days. Because many Saturdays are holidays every year.
According to the NCTB, even if there is a two-day holiday, the learning hours given to students will not reduce the learning hours. This is proposed while maintaining international standards. Also, English middle schools and several private schools have two days off per week. This will reduce the physical and mental stress of the students.
