The Chief Elections Commissioner (CEC), KM Nurul Huda, has stated that the by-elections for the Dhaka-5 and Naogaon-6 constituencies have been fair. He said that there was no difficulty in the elections anywhere. We have no complaints.
The CEC spoke at the electoral building in Agargaon, the capital, just before the end of the elections in Saturday’s two-seat by-elections.
Responding to a question about voter participation and interest, he said that the national election was held across the country. Voters are less interested in this election. There is no possibility of changing government to become a member of parliament in this election. Candidates or voters may not be interested in being elected for 2 years / two and a half years. Also, there is a corona problem. That is why people are terrified. There is a situation where people cannot go. The electoral trend is good.
Voting for the Dhaka-5 and Naogaon-6 by-elections began at 9am on Saturday and continued until 5pm. Electronic voting machine (EVM) voting was conducted in both constituencies.
Six candidates ran in the Dhaka-5 constituency and three in the Naogaon-6 constituency. Awami League in Dhaka-5. Kazi Monirul Islam, Salahuddin Ahmed from BNP, HM Ibrahim Bhuiyan from the Popular Front, Mir Abdus Sabur from the Jatiya Party, Md. From the Bangladesh Congress. Anshar Rahman Sikder and the National People’s Party. Arifur Rahman (Sumon Master) competed.
Naogaon-6-Awami League said. Anwar Hossain (Helal), BNP Sheikh Mohammad. Rezaul Islam and the National People’s Party. Khandaker Intekhab Alam competed. The results were not known until the report was written at 6:25 pm.
